Flexwheel HS shaft mounting without hubs

Is there a way to mount a flex wheel to a HS shaft for flywheel purposes without the need for a VersaHub?

You can do something like this, and sandwich it in High Strength lockbars from robosource.net.

Yeah that was what I what I had in mind. I was wondering if there was any other way. Thanks anyway!

There’s always the good ol’ wedge a gear in it, or the 6t sprocket with chainflats, but this technique is much better, and I definitely trust it more.

When we tried this our 45a flywheel actually fell down due to it expanding and not having as much contact with the chain flats.

The problem with that is that it warps the flex wheel and also expands.

A solution would be to zip tie it.

Or do this.

This deserves to be on the Vex Cursed thread

there is zero benefit to this i cannot imagine why someone would have done it.

I would say it is quite useful. It allows you to make a custom hub that can hold a flywheel firmly in place, without the need to use polycarb.

Did you make it? No, actually, if it works, it works. If it doesn’t, then yes, it’s useless.

but… versahub… is objectively better here…

@Sylvie i agree versahub is better, but the entire purpose of the thread is for those who don’t have access to versa hubs.

@Keys I didn’t not make it.

that looks cool, but not very practical

You just drill holes in a gear.
