I am building a flex wheel intake that uses gears to double the use of our conveyor belt motor. It is supposed to fall forward as expansion and then pull a ring in as the conveyor moves. I have an issue though. While the conveyor belt moves the correct way up, the flex wheel intake just outakes instead of intaking. I believe there should be a way to reposition, add or mess with the gears so the direction of the flex wheels movement changes direction without the conveyor belt changing direction. Here is a quick sketch of what it looks like.
Anyone have any ideas that could help?
Maybe check the coding because it could be a malfunction when it tries to intake.
I take it that with your conveyor, the ring is being pulled on top of it like a hook intake, right, and then being pushed or flipped on the goal at the end.
However for the flex wheel part (first stage) of your intake, it needs to pull the ring underneath, and this means that the first stage and conveyor bit (second stage) have to be moving in opposite directions for the ring to get pulled under the first stage, and over and on top of the second stage.
So we cannot chain them together on the same axle as they will be moving in the same direction.
Instead, somewhere add a gear on that axle and another axle with a gear meshing onto the first one, then chain your intake to that axle as it will be reversed.
This is not the best video to explain this probably but you can see how the axle of the second stage meshes with another gear axle to which the intake is connected, so the gear spins the other direction and the flex wheels spin in the right direction
If it’s chain it will spin the same direction of your conveyer you need to put two gears next to each other no chain to change the direction
I’ve tried that, and it actually ends up pulling the whole thing upward. Is there any idea of what I’m doing wrong?
Whole thing, as in the flex wheels? Is it a “floating” intake, where the intake can go up and down because it’s fixed at a pivot?
Do you see what’s pulling the whole thing upward? The chain?
No idea what’s happening
Yeah if its pulling it upwards, the pivot must be connected to the drive axle probably
maybe send some photos katbot so we can help you out.
