I was wondering if anybody has used heat sinks in the last 4 years. The last instance that I’ve seen was in 2022. I was wondering if this would still work in newer games.
what is the heatsync for? wont that just add additional wight??

If you need a heat sink, (I’m assuming for your brain) then your coding is WILD
i dont think you need it because the heat isnt that bad. i put my vex v5 pneumatics tank next to the hottest motors and that kinda helps. but using a heatsync is just overkill.
the rule j. “Aerosol-based cooling/freeze spray may be used to assist in cooling motors. Teams using freeze spray or similar products in ways that may reasonably be deemed unsafe could be subject to Violations.” and “Robots are built from the VEX V5 system.” make it so you can only use cooling spray to cool motors when the robot is not in an active match. Thus it is technically illegal for the robot to have heat sinks cuz they are not official vex pieces.
I personally have found that the heat does make them less efficient.
You could certainly create motor heat sinks from V5 structure & hardware, but it will greatly increase the volume needed on the robot for the motor to be placed. Plus, the plastic motor housings aren’t a very good conductor of heat, making any attempt at external cooling moot.
wouldn’t heat sinks just be a waste of space because of the 18" by 18" regulations? the space wasted could be used for more infrastructure eg. better lift mechanism or more structural support
