Help me join a large alliance! (discobots, robonauts, vortex, etc.)

Ok… i will take your advice.

I understand the benefits of joining an alliance… but ultimately is it all that important to really join one?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe I just don’t get it.

It sounds like the cliche HS cliques made its way towards robotics.

I don’t need a fancy alliance name if I wanted to work with 8044 and 1575 and 180 in VA.

Being in an alliance doesn’t necessarily cause you to just work with teams in your alliance, it just helps to get other teams to know who you are and know how you work. This year, I’ve worked with more teams outside of Vortex than I have with teams in Vortex.

The students told me that they aren’t inviting new teams until after worlds. Their alliance, their decision.

I wish we had alliances in my region…
or maybe i’m just ignorant, who knows xD

Nobody brought up t he best alliance: The DQ alliance
Just saying top of the top

Who dat? Which teams?

Sharks eat vortex for lunch and Texas Vex Alliance for dinner. @Mark185A

Given we are the only team from Vietnam, I don’t think there are even any alliances 1000 miles from us…

Sharks also throw up their food

I think “Fancy Alliance Name” would be a great name for an alliance.

To be honest though… most of the benefits of an alliance don’t come through location. Of course its nice to be in an alliance with people that you see at every competition, but, for example, my team is looking to join Vortex, based in Nebraska. We will never attend a competition to go to (except like worlds), because we’d have to haul all the way from Connecticut. However we will still be able to get most benefits of an alliance online, so location isnt very important.

Though I know it would be very far for you, consider the US Open in Council Bluffs IA, just across the river from Omaha NE. It’s a fun tournament.

We were actually considering adding a long distance senior-trip for this year. We were looking at qual competitions but I had thought about the US Open too. That would be a much better choice imo because it is definitely more competitive than most qualifying competitions

I don’t see why all of you are ripping on @antichamber like this. He started this thread because he wants to join an alliance for the same reasons anyone else wants to join an alliance. He never said that he expected the best alliances to just take him for asking, he was just wondering what he had to do to get in an alliance so he has common alliance benefits. Although many of you top tier teams may not consider him as the best of the best, he has contributed a lot to the forum and we should appreciate that rather than rip on him for trying to find an alliance like many other people have done.

@DRow May i suggest to have this thread locked, mainly because the user who needed help for this discussion recieved help by many as what i have heard and have seen. Also I am predicting some unneccesary and/or off-topic posts to appear in this thread in the future.

Just a thought though. I’m just making a suggestion.

you’re definitely ignorant

I’m sorry, but I am the leader of 1961X, and I do not recall joining an alliance called “Tejas VEX Alliance”. I am very confused.
