I am a beginer to Vex IQ and our team is using a choo choo mechanism for the catapult in rapid relay. It seems to work with out rubber bands but as soon as I put tension on it using rubber bands it stops moving. I think it might have something to do with not using a torque gear train or something.
You have it right there!! You need at least a 5:1 (motor to choo-choo) ratio to get it to move most setups. On the other hand, don’t get carried away, since you have only 60 seconds of match play. Max RPM is 100, so doing a 12:1 ratio doesn’t give you many shots.
