Hero bot turned into intake bot?

So I want to turn my hero bot into a bot that can intake rings and all that. I’m in the progress and it going great I just wana know if you guys think it’s possible to turn it into a fully functional intake bot with adjustments to the drivetrain making it a 4 motor drivetrain with the same frame of the hero bot drivetrain (sorry I’m kinda bad at wording this tell me if you need a more detailed explanation).

I see what you mean.
I would say its possible to, but you might run into some problems along the way, since you dont have any refrences from other bots. Considering that the hero bot drive base has a giant plate running over it, i would suggest swapping that out for cross braces, then work from there. This would allow for space for a goal clamp, as well as space for plastic ramps, and staged intakes.

I’ve started it I have made the goal clamp and now working on the intake it works well I think I just might had to make adjustment to the goal clamp. Should I add 2 more motors and a gear ratio to the drivetrain just to make it faster and stronger. I could get pictures but I’m still on winter break so might be a bit.

Adding more motors is a great idea. If you were to add a gear ratio to the drivetrain, I would make it at least 360 rpm or faster. Assuming that you are using green motor cartridges, a ratio of 60:36 or 5:3 would manage this. Moving faster rather than slower is highly effective in this game. It sounds like you and your team are majorly leveling up!

Ok here the photos of the progress I have made so far. I brought it home so that’s why u see the table and stuff. Feel free to give me any suggestions

I would highly higly recommend building a goal clamp now. Fine tuning a mechanism, epecially a hook intake can take a lot of work, since a lot of it is guess and check.
Furthur, i noticed that your top axle is bending in the 4th picture you sent.

I’m going to send updated pictures of what I changed I changed a lot including the whole intake mechanism

Why don’t you make the drivetrain a 4 motor geared drive?

I was also having this exact same problem where my axel was bending on the top of my intake. Do you know any ways to permanently fix it, because right now we are just taking the axel off straightening it and putting it back on and this isn’t the most efficient use of time for us.

I can’t tell if that’s a 2 motor drivetrain, but I recommend using 4 or more. A 2 motor drive will overheat super quickly and be super weak, making it hard to defend goals in corners.

It’s my first year in robotics and I only have 2 weeks before a comp. . First there’s this bar in the middle under the robot my intake is mounted to that bar for support so I can’t remove it. Second if you look at the robot on vex v5 website on the online build instructions you can see that it is hard to mount 2 motors on the front I’m going to try the make a 4 motor drivetrain but it would be without gears. Last of all I have a lot of testing to do since I brought my robot home. I have made a goal clamp but it still needs testing Im gona test my new intake and goal clamp today

In my new picture the axle does bend a little too but there is almost little to no friction it runs smooth

use a high-strength shaft or you might wanna use the same size sprockets. If you have pictures of your robot can I see them?

read the post i made with the new pictures

i might be able to make a 4 motor it will just be without any gears

It should be fine then.
You should look into building a first stage intake to get rings into the hook itself.

there are 2 way that I’ve used

  1. move the c channel or put a smaller c channel on standoffs connected so that the low strength axel has less room to bend

or even better

  1. Use high strength shaft.

Just started doing that today

Yes high strength shafts are great but if not I recommend using same sized sprockets and your intake kinda like mine.
