High Stakes skills scoring explanation

I got some trouble understanding the scoring system in skills. Let’s take 860X 55pt score run as an example.

From what I understand:

  • Red ring is worth 1 pt
  • Blue ring (top ring) is worth 3 pts
  • A MoGo in the corner is worth 5 pts
  • Tier 1 climb is worth 3 pts
  • Top rings only have pt values after all red rings are scored.

According to these rules, this is my calculation:

  • 1 5-ring MoGo in the corner: 10 pts
  • 2 6-ring MoGo in the corner: 22 pts
  • 1 MoGo in the corner: 5 pts
  • 2 1-ring NWS: 2 pts
  • 1 1-ring AWS: 1 pt
  • Tier 1 climb: 3 pts
    → Total: 43 pts

May I ask what did I do wrong?

Quick Update: I forgot to change the corner from a square to a triangle (I use the old image of the field) and

means there are 5 rings in this MoGo

Red rings can be either normal rings or top rings, but blue can only be top rings AND only counts if all of the red rings are scored. This means red rings can always count as a top ring. The wording of the skills rules is a little weird so I can see why this could be confusing, but this makes up for the 12 points you are missing.

Red rings can also be counted as top rings as well per RSC4e. Unlike blue rings, not all red rings need to be scored in a skills match in order to count as top rings; the rules say “each blue ring only has a point value if, RSC4a, all red rings in the match have been scored on stakes and have point values.”

I just want to confirm, so the red rings work as top rings (even if there are only one red ring on the stake, and blue ring can be used if 1) all red rings have a pts value and 2) the blue ring is on top of a red ring?

Yes, this is correct. However, also keep in mind RSC5, which says that any red rings scored above a blue ring on a stake will not have a point value.
