How do you make a flywheel? (PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR SO LONG!)

I have been searching for ages on how to make a flywheel. I have tried CAD animations and turning point videos but found nothing. I AM VERY DESPERATE PLS HELP. Its super hard to find any ideas for Spin Up.

First have a plastic tray/track that the disc can run on.
On one side, use a 30A 4" flex wheel spun by a geared up 600rpm motor, and on the other side a plastic wall. I reccomend looking at the BLRS robot.

Maybe go further than turning point? Go all the way to NBN.
Lots of threads talking about flywheel over there.

But don’t expect to find any step by step guide though.

2:12 is where they go over their shooter. you can also look for similar flywheels by searching ‘FTC Ultimate Goal’

Perhaps you can use Remembering the Best’s CAD files for reference. You can see 169 TP, 2857Z or 400X NBN.

Try to use the search bar on the forum! I’m sure there are lots of good threads on the best ways to build a flywheel! :grinning:

No offense but why don’t you try that first and then tell me :grinning:

what do you want him to try? the search bar or the flywheel?

@N1kkiisaweom3 is not wrong in both counts though - there are really a lot of resources and threads on flywheels, and this double flywheel has been used and tested many times.

Honestly, you’re right about that. Most of the posts are on programming for it, which I actually find strange because I feel like it would be much harder to build this versus programming it. Might be my non-programmer stupidity lol.

I understand what you are saying but this person should first test out his own theories before giving out advice. The only flywheel discusions I see is about programing, nothing else. He just gives a vauge discription of what should be done in which I have already said that I have searched many different types of topics.

Sigh… here you go…

Single flywheel - 8059A Robot in 1 Day: Singapore VEX Edition (Reveal) & More
(sorry… another shameless plug on 8059 again)

Double flywheel - Team 929W Early Season Robot Reveal

As I mentioned previously - do not expect step by step guide.
But if you browse through all the posts in these 2 threads, there are lots of questions and info regarding the build itself.

Wjy I chose these 2 posts - coz these 2 are almost like the unofficial definitive guides to single flywheel and double flywheel.
Sure… lots of many other teams have worked on flywheels and improved it, but you can’t run too far from these 2 threads if you want to understand the concepts and also the things to take note of in building a flywheel.

And finally, understand the considerations involved, and then adapt accordingly to this season’s game.

And have fun!

Edit:

I must say that sometimes Google search will do a much better job than the forum search bar.

They seem to be a bunch of reveal or show off videos. But some of them seem to be useful

As @meng has mentioned (which I appreciate so thank you very much!) there are plenty of useful forum and non forum places to find guides flywheels. It is not a theory, but a way to gain more knowledge of the subject! I tried to make my post earlier positive, only suggesting a video I found useful and a tip to look at other threads (which I have done so many times in the past). I meant no harm, and hopefully we can continue this thread in a positive manner! Have a great final days of school/start of summer to all!

You can try a flex wheel covered by rubberbands with a speed motor driving a 72 tooth gear which drives a 12 tooth (72:12 gear ratio). 3600 rpm

Assuming this post is for over under the flywheel more than likely should be vertical compared to horizontal. I would reccomend a 600 rpm motor on the same shaft as a 36 tooth gear dand an 84 tooth gear on the same shaft as a 4" flex wheel(Preferably not a 60A black one ). have the flex wheel near the top of you bot and you should be able to shoot the trib alls just fine Another option us sprockets with a ratio of 24 to 6 on 9P sprockets

This topic is well over a year old, as the OP is probably not desperate anymore, I’m closing it.
