How does VEX Worlds worlds operate? More so what is the experience like?

Tell me everything about it, this is our first time going to worlds so, we really want to know how that works.

If you are aiming for winning the whole thing, just don’t…

You’ll understand this once you get there…

I would be most excited for the experience, it is a once in a lifetime thing that you should enjoy as much as possible.

Good luck, and have fun!!!

Honestly you could probably just look at the website to figure out stuff but I guess this is best answered by people who have been there.

One day one you’ll arrive at Kay Bailey. Get checked in and inspected and settle down in your pits. Get ready for the opening ceremonies. After that you got time to do skills and use the practice fields. You will do one practice match and one qualification match on day one. When you do your last qualification match you are free to get dinner, go to your hotel and relax.

Day two, get ready for tons of qual matches (usually around 6) and more skills, practice fields, auton stuff, just like a normal tournament. Expected raised fields for quals and skills, practice fields are on the ground.

Day three, finish out your about 3 qual matches and any remaining skills runs. Alliance selection and then elims. Each of the ten divisions runs their own room bracket until you get to the Dome. Once you are sick of watch elims or get eliminated head to the dome to get good seats. Enjoy the rest of the show with the finals, game reveal, and have a safe trip home.

The chances of winning being slim is true, just don’t rob yourself of the competitive thrill.

  • Be ready for some chaos
  • Talk to other teams, not necessarily solely about robotics (potential to meet some cool people and make some friends)
  • Bring spare parts in case the need for them arises (motors to swap out any which overheat, structural parts to repair any damage, tools like screwdrivers for repairs, etc.)

Most importantly, have fun!!!

Hi,

Depending on how they set up the venue, be prepared to walk. In MS IQ I think I walked ~15 miles each day. Our team uniform meant that we were wearing dress shoes, it hurt do not suggest.

All of that being said, it’s exhilarating. You get to met so many teams from around the world. It can be quite frustrating though, pushbots aren’t uncommon, even at V5RC worlds. Defineatly firgure out lunch and dinners before hand, things get busy when robotics kids leave the convention center.

The biggest thing is to support your team, give them their glory. If they don’t realize it already they are amazing for making it to worlds! Thats 800 teams for V5RC and 400 something for IQ. Out of thousands of teams!

I hope that provides some insight,
