How to change the controls for controller

i am confused of how to change the controls and i have a gen 1 brain and control and i do not no how to update and how to put my thing in

Ok so first by first, you are very confused i can see, so lets do this step by step. First thing that caught my eye was “i do not no how to update and how to put my thing in”. If you want to update your brain then you simply,

  1. Go to the VEX library. → IQ – VEX Library
  2. Then you click the Updating Firmware - IQ Brain (1st Gen)
    It should guide you from there. Make sure that you have a USB-Cable.
  3. It should also detect the Brain and any connected motors/sensors.
  • Make sure there aren’t any other programs (like VEXcode) open when running the update. They can interfere. (Coming from experience)

Now if we’re talking about actual driver control mapping, which is easier than updating firmware, I promise. You’re basically telling your brain which joystick or button moves which motor.

  1. First get everything paired. Like your brain and controller need to be paired first (solid green link light).

  2. Open the Controller Configuration, which is go on the Brain, go to Driver Control → Configure.

  • Remember this shows all the motors and the buttons.
  1. Remap buttons/sticks
  • Select the motors you want to control.
  • Assign it to a joystick axis (left/right stick) or button.
