How to code PID

Hello
I’m part of a first-year MS team, and we want to make a PID controller (in python) for our autonomous. I have two questions.

  1. Is PID worth it for autonomous this season?
  2. Are there any good tutorials for PID in Vex V5 (python is preferable)

Thanks.

No one has made a Python PID yet, its all been C++ so far, or using JAR template or PROS

No, people have made python PIDs, and there are probably examples on youtube for them (I don’t have access to youtube, so I can’t check)

@Rip3tide, I would reccomend searching on the fourm for “PID” or “Python PID” for some more information.

Not true, you can definitely code a PID in Python, it will just look different due to being Python. The logic should remain the same. Now there are no templates in Python, yes.

However, PID is not a requirement however coding automation will be easier and more consistent with it.

Just look up George Gillard PID and give it a read.
