How to get your vex v5 claw to close and open with pneumatics

could anyone help me figure out a way to get my standard claw to close i am powering it with pneumatis and what are some good solutions.

I saw a team at a comp do something like this.

In that cad it the piston collides with a rubber band/screw but I’m sure you could fix that.

In my opinion though a better solution may be to design your own claw.

This idea works, but there’s a lot of resistance there because of the gears, so making your own claw would be better for this.

The cad works well to show what you should do, but it’d be smart to put it on the bottom as well.

If it’s possible, you can just mount the piston directly over the claw by adding spacers on both sides and using a shaft collar to connect it to the piston. I’ve found this to be the easiest method, at least for this type of claw.

You can probably use either a single or double acting piston. Personally we decided to go for a double acting piston since it was pretty consistent and simple.
