I know that you guys have probably seen this time and time again from more experienced people, such as robostats or robo ops, but I want to make a good vex app that has all of the features the community actually wants, I have a lot of possibly useful features in mind but wanted to ask the community for their thoughts on some features that I could add, also I want to implement a good and useful scouting tool teams can easily use quickly, so I wanted to ask, how does your team currently scout, do you use paper, a spreadsheet, an app, or nothing? And if you do scout, what are the most tedious parts of scouting in your opinions
Personally, my team used a google doc (I know, it was terrible). In the app, just make a way for teams to EASILY share their scouting notes between the whole team. Also make it so we can have a whole scouting dashboard for each team at an event, accessible at the fingertips of every member. Also allow each team to create a profile of their own, whether it be adding their logo as a profile pic, or a team photo as a banner, or whatever, let teams show off their teams straight from the app, with individual member accounts/profiles, this would help with moving teams between seasons so everyone can keep their accounts while being on a new team. I recommend looking at apps like GameChanger, that has a lot of features for sports teams that could be helpful for robotics (WHICH IS A SPORT). Ooh, also have each team page have an FAQ, where the app can have the general questions people usually ask while scouting so it saves time for everyone and doesn’t make those awkward moments when you’re working on the bot and being scouted. Maybe even have a built in messenger for teams to message each other? That would really help with multi-day tournaments as you can talk outside of the comp hours. Those are all my ideas. Yeah, in my list of features that I want to implement I think an account/notes sharing feature would be really beneficial as I’ve found this to be a pain point for a lot of people. I really like your idea for a FAQ area, I think that will really speed up the scouting process. A messenger might be hard to implement but I think that would really help teams and let them talk amongst each other while working on their robot or doing something else.
