What are your guys initial ideas for your robot this next season?
Just feel free to bounce ideas off each other. My idea is an X-Drive with DR4B and a hook at the end to hook onto to 3rd or 2nd bar for climbing.

I feel like a good idea for the high climb would just be a winch like over under this year
I’m thinking of:
intake with ramp to put the game objects on the stakes
stakes will be held in possession with a forklift type thing
another game object holder that will be able to descore, still thinking how it will actually work
and I have seen a lot of climb mechanisms using in frc competitions that have a similar climb. So will try to add these thing.
And for the actual drivetrain, maybe mecanum wheels but will change to hard wheels if there’s a lot of pushing during games.
Nice concepts
20 charrrr
I think that the 12 points for the t3 hang isnt worth losing the possible 16 points from just sitting in the positive corner and defending a full mobile goal, but im curious to see what others think because 12 points is huge in a game with a max of 84.
I’m thinking of a clamp that can hold on to mobile goals then an arm or a conveyor belt thing to put rings onto the mobile goal and steaks with a low hang mechanism
Yeah, thats what I was thinking. For 12 points it doesn’t really make sense. I’d rather just get a goal full of the other alliance’s rings and keep it in the - zone while they hang. Also, Do you guys think the expansion limit is gunna be unlimeted once the match starts?
Im prolly gonna run 600 2.75. It is seeming that you are going to have to be fast in this game.
I’m thinking about going for a six-motor drive made for speed to grab the net first, but I would need to see the game manual to see the motor count. I can probably look/modify at a few intake designs from spin-up and tipping point since the rings require a little bit of force to score/
Wall bot that just sits with a perfect stack of notes that sits and pushes all the goals for the duration of the game seems to be the meta
yeah, if there is hanging, it has to be done really quickly or you will not be able to defend the rings you have scored from being moved to the negative area.
and as @Foximusprime said, 12 points max is not even worth that much when instead you could be protecting your goal at the doubling area, while also preventing it from being moved to the negative.
Something to think about:
I don’t know about you guys, but I said the exact same thing you just said about over under. It’s not worth it because instead you could be doing “xyz”
12 points will make or break a game, I would even argue 6 points would. For early season I’m expecting a bunch of super high hangs, but the best teams will have a fast hang that gets them 6 points.
Just a thought.
I recommend that you try to run a drivetrain with torque so when you’re defending the corners you don’t get easily pushed around, that’s the reason why I chose an X-Drive.
Just a suggestion though
Yes. I regret not hanging at all in over under because I would have won more match’s. But threats just a lesson to me to analyze the game better and look at everything. I think hanging should be implemented on bots Atleast before your 3rd tournament.
A 4 motor x drive has less torque than a 4 motor tank drive becasue the wheels don’t exert their force in a uniform direction. X drives are 41% faster but have 41% less torque than a tank drive of the same gearing. Correct me if my math isn’t mathing
Question, am i the only one that is kinda seeing different games in high stakes. The elevation is similar to over under and the mobile goals are like tipping point. So i would use some strategies such as using like a u forklift the would lower itself go under the mobile goals and then carry them around. Simple mechanism and doesn’t take a lot of space leaving room for elevation mechs and ways to use rings
Would a mecanum drive have more torque then while still having some advantages?
This high stakes game is very similar to 2 other robotics games.
Firstly : Rapid React in FRC.
This had a monkey bar in the field and the robots had to climb on it at the end of the match. I feel like the same mechanism use for that can be used to climb the 4ft stake. Maybe use some pneumatics and arms like how people did in the FRC game.
Secondly, this game is kind of like tipping point. The mobile goal stakes looks very similar to those of the tipping point ones so I feel like the mechanisms to steal and carry discs and goals would be incredibly similar.
These are my takes and what I think a lot of teams will take advantage of. It is just a matter of time!
Well, I’m already plannign our robot, and so far I have two very different ideas based on horizontal expansion limits.
Honestly im thinking Tipping Point style bot just with a bigger conveyor in the middle.
Torque base, small grabber with platform for the mobile goal, conveyor to bring rings to mobile goal, maybe double reverse 4 bar to lift mobile goal away from opponents and could be used for hang.
