In our robot we use a lot of pneumatics and we noticed that the motors are a little weaker does it have to do with the pneumatics or is it a system issue?
I have never heard of motors being weakened by pneumatics. However, your large amount of pneumatics could use lots of battery, so when you have a low battery, your motors get weaker. Test it again, but this time with a 100% battery. If the motors are still weak, they might be (a. Overheated or (b. Just old motors. (You may need new ones). If you don’t mind me asking, how many pneumatic solenoids and motors are you using, and what generation brain do you use?
It’s probably not something to do with the motors. Perhaps what you are noticing is the battery getting lower more frequently which may result in increased periods of your motors being weakened?
We use a 2nd gen brain, 6 motors and 2 soleniods
What makes you think your motors are weaker? Try to be specific. I would guess that something is moving more slowly than it was before. If your vehicle is accelerating less vigorously, it could just be that it’s heavier now with the pneumatics on board, for example.
I would say yes it makes other electronics weaker, but only by a teeny tiny bit, depending on what you are using, and how you are using it. If the IQ brain has a capacitor, I would say that the voltage fluctuation will be unnoticeable. Again, depends on how many you use.
my team was building a revolver bot and before we added the pneumatics the intake worked fine but after it was added the intake started going at way lower speeds but after we removed the pneumatics it started working again idk how
If it is the drivetrain motors you notice are weaker it may be the extra weight from the pneumatics.
Theoretically, it technically would spend some battery because the VEX system will have one extra device to maintain and send signals to it for pneumatic actuations, but in practicality, this extra voltage is negligible enough that it shouldn’t be a problem.
It is likely just
- Frictional issues
- your motors might just be overheated (you can tell by their motor temperature)
- Motors just have a lot of load
