I need some ideas on what attachments I should attach to the vex V5 robot.
can you show us your robot currently so we can gauge our reccomendations?
It depends on your team’s priorities, the level of experience your team has, the budget of your team, how much time you have, and so many other things. Having the forums design your robot for you isn’t in the spirit of VRC, as the rules state that a robot should represent the skill level of the team.
That being said, here are some components that robots implement this year that you can use as inspiration for your own design:
- Intake: many robots have methods of bringing blocks into the inside of their robot
- Scoring mechanism: there are many ways to accomplish scoring, from reusing the intake to score low goal or making a whole new mechanism to score the other goals, it’s up to you
- Modified drivetrain: many robots, especially this year, use different drivetrains, whether it’s based on extra torque and grip to hold their position or based on speed to outmaneuver their opponents, there are plenty of ways to adjust your drivetrain to better suit your goals
- Descoring mechanism: There are a few ways I’ve seen to descore, with the most popular beng an arm to reach into the goal
There are a variety of other options, but it’s up to you what you do. If you want to see what works well, you can look at other robots at your competitions. Most teams I’ve met are more than happy to explain their mechanisms, how they work, and how they were built. I remember that during Spin Up, my team had absolutely no idea how to build the catapult that we wanted to use, but after asking a team that used one how it worked, we ended up with a decent understanding, which let us build a pretty good design. The most important part of VRC is to learn, and there’s no better way to learn than by making something yourself and seeing what you can improve.
Add some way to score middle goal. It’s so annoying when it misses middle.
