Injustice in the RECF (448X)

I think that whether the RECF won or lost money is largely besides the point here. Dan, I apologize for bringing this up once again, but what can be done to ensure that the ‘mistakes’ Tarek has made over the past few seasons do not happen again? This has affected over three separate organizations now, who knows how many more by next season.

If evidence is not presented backing up your case how can u expect the community to favor your case? Do you fear that the community will realize that this case against us was built upon very weak evidence?

For the RECF/GDC:

1. The process for season disqualifications, or any other penalty of similar magnitude, needs to be reviewed. I know Dan has already agreed with this in at least two places in this thread, so I just want to say thank you to him for that. I’d recommend making this policy public (even incorporating it into the game manual as an appendix), if only for the sole purpose of being able to point to it easily when situations like this inevitably arise again.
2. As I discussed earlier, there’s a legitimate lack of community consultation in the RECF’s programs. You don’t want people to anticipate game manual updates in the same way that they anticipate Windows updates, where no one knows at all what could to change or what important consideration it’s going to ignore; you won’t have this problem if the community can at least see the process and contribute in a civilized, professional way where appropriate. I’d reccomend community input to your review of the disqualification policy might be a good place to pilot this.

I agree the REC Foundation will review the season disqualification review process and make changes to be more transparent. I am committed to completing this before the EP summit. I accept your suggestion and will post the draft for community review prior to final release.

This type of behavior from RECF event partners is the exact reason why we are making this post. Insulting a parents intelligence for trying to present a case for her child who loves robotics should not be acceptable. I feel as if the RECF is going to be consistent in there rulings there should be a punitive action for this user. @DanMantz @Foster

I’ve been thinking this all along as a mom, coach of an independent team, event partner, volunteer, and someone that has the upmost respect for Dan Mantz: become part of the solution, not part of the problem. If anyone is unhappy with the refs, judges, event partners or anyone else, come on down from the stands and HELP OUT. You are part of the community. There is not some vast conspiracy. No one is getting rich here. It is ALL ABOUT the kids.

With all due respect…All statements given to us do not show any clear wording or actions that the RECF is claiming.

We need to get back to the main focus of this thread being a change for the better for the entire community.

This sounds very much like what-aboutism. Two things can be true at once - Foster’s comments are inappropriate, while at the same time, bashing the RECF is not professional.

I always feel an obligation to step in and condemn personal attacks. @Foster, may I direct you toward my response here in the “appropriate behaviour” thread. TL;DR: “One of the main reasons why robotics was so important for me in high school is that everyone treated everyone else with respect.”

Is it me or is this thread becoming useless it’s more like people seeking validation of their own beliefs? Also, I applaud @DanMantz for replying in this thread for a good portion of today while it was far from required.
