Hey, Luke here from 63031A. I’ve hit a roadblock and I’m struggling to come up with an idea for an intake method to pick up and score the rings. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
There’s been a pretty popular design so far where you use flex wheels on the front of the intake which just bring the ring up a little bit. After the ring is up, hooks on the second stage of the intake will bring it all the way to the top and essentially slap it into the mogo.
Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKbRMi5oNJY
You could maybe replace the first stage with rubber bands instead but just try experimenting with different designs.
Also, to bring the rings up to the wall and alliance stakes you could have a lift to move your entire intake up, or you could use a seperate arm which takes in 2 rings at a time and then puts them into the wall and alliance stakes.
hey luke welcome to te forums, there have been plenty of topics similar to yours that you can find using the search tab.
i will say that youtube never fails to inspire possible solutions to your issue, but who knows maybe something different ends up working better for your team
The FUN Robotics YouTube channel is a great source for robot ideas. Look at the interviews from the Mall of America Signature Event.
→ type Youtube.com into your browser
->type Vex High Stakes into the youtube search bar
->hit enter
->scroll through the hundreds of videos of robots that have been released and gather ideas from all the other ppl that have figured it out already.

First off, Welcome to VEX Forum
The sources cited are always great. I would say that you tube (Specifically FUN Network in the pits and parts series) is an amazing source for anything. I personally think that team whisper this year had an amazing intake so check them out. Otherwise just make sure you look at google, YT and existing topics/ builds. If you have some idea that has like never been done or is extremely uncommon that is the perfect time for VEX Forum. Overall I would say try to do the research yourself although there are many of users here happy to help (myself included). I will put this here though PSA to new forum users v2
