IQ Pneumatics could be getting out of hand

I think we need some kind of limitation. I think that some kind of motor penalty, like what they used to have for V5, would be appropriate.

My proposed revised rule:
<R11> Motors. Robots may use up to six (6) VEX IQ Smart Motors. Robots may up to a combined total of seven (7) motors and Pneumatic Solenoids.

I really do like the pneumatics, but their power, combined with the onboard pump, just feels like it’s giving too much. I’ll keep thinking about it throughout the season, but I think it’s just too much power… Limitations would force more creativity, instead of just adding another solenoid. (I do not think pistons should be limited.)

Any thoughts?

noooooooo i like pneumatics. the whole point of pnematics is to substitute for motors. adding more pneumatics does give creativity as well - it lets people change their turning movement into linear movement and stuff. i think that we should not have a limit for pneumatics, although this is only my biased opinion (my team’s robot uses 2 solenoids and 6 motors :neutral_face: )
