Is it true that if u return a messed up v5 part vex will send u a fresh one for free
yes my team has mailed a brain or two back for a new one. I would email vex support to get this done.

The term you are looking for is RMA (return merchandise authorization). VEX has info on that process on their ‘Contact Us’ page. I would not expect them to replace parts that failed due to abuse. RMA is usually reserved for parts that are in some way defective.
So if i drop a controller and it breaks they wont take it
