Is this device legal in vex iq full volume

my device is a goes upwards but falls forwards would that be illegal.

That was pretty cryptic. Can you please write another 25-50 words on what you are asking?

Please elaborate. You need to be much more specific and some photos would help.

Also, which rules(s) in the game manual make you unsure about its legality?

A picture is worth 1000 words
Either give us a (figurative) 1000 words or a picture

Ideally a combination of both

We need a bit more information to help you. Possibly a picture could help!

However here are a few things to keep in mind:
SG2 " Robots may not expand horizontally beyond the 11” x 20” starting dimension limit at any time during a Match.
This means that when it “falls forward” the robot can’t be more than 11" x 20" horizontally

However, on this rule, there is a note that says that there is “no vertical expansion limit” Which means that you can “go upwards” as high as you like, as long as you are 15" high at the beginning of the match!

This should answer your question with the information you have provided to us, if it doesn’t fully answer your question then please (as stated above) reply with a picture/video of your robot so we can help answer your question fully!

so one if it is going partially horizontal is it illegal in vex robotics iq full volume.

part of this image shows the angle of the robotic arm that is used to partial park in vex iq full volume i wanted to see if it was legal because an opposing team coach said that we used an illegal device/contraption on our robot this is partially horizontal.

Awesome design, like how you used the parts with slight curves to make an easy scissors extension. I’m going to add that to my build skills list. Love the pink plates, really miss the colors.

But to answer your question, no it is not legal, it puts you out of the front / back size limit.

“we used an illegal device/contraption on our robot this is partially horizontal.”

I don’t think a scissor lift is illegal, seeing as it’s a very common contraption, It is illegal if its over 20" length wise, per rule SG2. Also you don’t need that to partially park, you can just have a very small piece that goes over the bar.

I hope this helps!!!

as I said, if it goes over the 20 inch length limit, it’s illegal

I don’t think there is such thing as ‘partially horizontal’ expansion. If it expands diagonally, as it looks like in the photo, then it is expanding both horizontally and vertically at the same time.

If it expands horizontally outside the starting dimension limit at the same time as expanding vertically, it is not legal. I believe the opposing team’s coach is correct. Refer to SG2 in the manual.

Rather than wondering if what someone said is correct, please review rule SG2 in the game manual (VIQRC Full Volume Game Manual - VEX Robotics) and tell us if the coach was correct or not.

That means it’s partially horizontal? (Not completely horizontal or vertical)

As per the horizontal expansion limit rule, that’s illegal but that’s an AMAZING idea, I love it! I’m assuming it’s long enough to park from a long distance away from the supply zone so if you lack time then it would be amazing. (I really wish there was a way to make this idea legal under the size limits…)
Instead of a big scissor lift, I would (if this fits in size limits) add a standoff just big enough so it goes over or under the bar and into the supply zone.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that if something expands ‘partially horizontally’/diagonally then it is still expanding horizontally and so must still remain within the starting dimension limit.

While we can describe it as expanding partially horizontally, this isn’t recognised separately from horizontal/vertical expansion in the game manual.
