List of Signature Events

Yeah, but how fair is it that teams from the home state snap up a majority of the slots before anyone really even knows about the Signature Event? I think there could be a more equitable way to roll out Signature Events and - perhaps - a cap on the number of teams per organization and/or qualifying criteria (like Night at the Museum), would be good.

I think the worlds spots just go away. I mean, I hope they would make an exception because it involves my school, but it’s not a good idea. Kalahari does have a cap, it was 8 teams per organization, but was moved to 9. And that’s specifically why it’s not a signature right now(as far as I know) - because Ohio teams have more than 75% of the team list.

I would hope that they either add enough extra spots to bring Ohio’s percentage down, or move one of the home-state teams to the waitlist (or just wait until someone drops out).

I think it would be much worse to make the event not be a Signature Event than to just make one team skip the event.

At the one in Florida, they will have 60 spots, but for now, they only opened up the 45 spots that can go to Florida teams. Once those spots are full, other teams can sign up using the waitlist, so there can’t be more than 45 Florida teams.

Edited to add: This is the same system @Jim Crane mentioned below.

Was hoping for the Pan Pacific in Hawaii again this year but it doesn’t seem like it’ll happen!

Spot Levels have not been configured for all Signature Events as of yet. This will be done shortly.
Thanks for your patience.

One note is that some Signature Events have only opened registration for 75% of the capacity. The other 25% will be taken from the wait list. So if you haven’t gotten in, please put yourself on the wait list so that you can be invited. This is necessary to enforce the 75% maximum teams from the local region registration rule. We all want these to be diverse events, and this rule ensures that aspect of Signature Events.

Great to know. Thanks!

If you type the word: Signature into the search box when looking up events, you will get a list of all of the Signature Events. The Awards tab on each event will tell you which awards qualify to VEX Worlds.

Thanks, @Jim Crane!

The Asia Open VEX EDR Robotic Competition - High School and the Asia Open for VRC middle school still don’t have Signature Event in their names, though, despite the description saying that they qualified for Worlds. (I guess this will be fixed soon, though.)

Below is a direct link to another resource to find Signature Events, found on the team resources pages of roboticseducation.org.

If it isn’t on the list, it isn’t a Signature Event. Not all World Qualifying events are Signature Events. They probably fall into another category, such as National, Regional or State Championships.

Thanks, @Jim Crane!

A few of those don’t seem to have “Signature” in their names on Robot Events, but the PDF will definitely be very helpful, and is even more intuitive than using the Robot Events search to do it.

time to revive this. where can I find the information about the 2019-2020 season signature events? I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find them

EPs generally apply to host signature events over the summer, so the full list of events likely won’t be available for a few months.

(Though, this event is already approved and live since it is much earlier in the season than other signature events)

Once the events get completely approved and finalized on Robotevents.com the filter has a level class option under the programs, they eventually should all come under that filter.

They might now at this time because those events are still getting set up, submitted, approved, etc…

@DRow Can we lock this thread?
