Hi, Jamil from 10863A now 35409A coming at you in need of desperate and quick help. The first regional scrim tournament is going to be on the 12th which is creeping up on us relatively fast. If any teams could help us out by giving us good ideas on what mechanisms we could construct to help us get quickly into a prototype bot to help us hold up for our first scrimmage that would be greatly appreciated. Small tips and tricks also help, I’m dealing completely with brand-new teammates and am in need of help to hold up the team for the start of this season.
With only 9 days til competition, you might just have to build the “Axel” trainer build to get started and give your teammates a way to quickly learn how the V5 building system works. After the build, you’ll have a few days to read the game manual, practice/learn to drive, and to do some basic programming. As you practice with the trainer, you could make a few easy modifications. In 2 weeks, the new people on your team will have experienced competition and seen some other robot ideas, then you can systematically start the engineering design process and document the process in your engineering notebook.
Here’s a quick link to the trainer builds: V5 Build Instructions - Downloads - V5 - VEX Robotics
Just have a good drivetrain, mogo clamp, and intake/scorer. Don’t try and do anything special, as you don’t have the time (and I assume your teammates don’t have the experience) to. As long as you have those 3, you’ll be set for your first scrimmage.
