Mounting Bars Diagonally

How do you mount a c-channel or a bar diagonally? When our team tried to do it, it was really unstable and we don’t know how to fix it.

Can we have pictures of it please?

However, just going off of what you said, here are some solutions:

  1. Use as many screws as you can, and then zip tie the heck out of it
  2. Use a high strength axle bace instead
  3. Use “banjos

send picturs of what you tried so we can help. triangle bracing is usually the solution.

I would say use a gusset if possible.

here is the link to find them and what they look like.

I don’t have a picture of it right now, so here is a crude drawling of it. I screwed the upperpart of the c-channel to the vertical one I mounted, and I added a standoff to the bottom part. I felt it was really sketchy and unstable, and one good hit would break it.

If you screwed it in hard enough, it should be fine (but a pic would be helpful).

If you can wiggle it, or if you try picking up your robot by the c-channel/brace and shake the robot and the c-channel/brace shifts/breaks/wiggles, yeah it’ll be a good idea to tighten the screws, rethink it, or maybe use a HS axle brace instead.

Here’s a cool trick I’ve found. You can make angles 45 or less. Pay attention to the holes that align. You can do this with many different spacings.

45°

Something less than that°
