My last straw for VEX

I can go to local hardware store and buy steel for little less than 8 bucks then make a sizing tool

All products require research and development. That takes time. Games are developed over a period of a couple of years. Then you have to get your suppliers to make the parts, assemble them etc. The quantity VEX is ordering is not that huge compared to say, iPhones, so prices will see higher than you expect.

Shipping is something I wish that VEX got more under control.

By research i mean i looked at most expensive products

At this point your multiple posts are not very helpful. If you have a constructive solution, then propose it.

I wanted to be a pack of 2 hinges from vex. Including shipping it would have cost me 25ish dollars. I’m sorry but this just stupid when 5ere is no way it costs that much to produce

Vex shut them down. You can no longer buy from Robot Mesh. After they did that, the prices were inflated a lot. They no longer have any competition for prices., so they can sell for whatever price they want.

When did they shut them down? What. I picked up an order from robot mesh one week ago. While they the products are not cheaper, I get them a lot faster and without shipping.

Excuse my wording;
they canceled their partnership. I am under the impression that there is a limited supply that they are selling off.

I am finding this thread to err off-topic. This thread is not to criticize prices being too high or too low, but talk about a product that has been introduced into the game and its faults. At this point and time, I believe the priority for VEX is to fix their system. Not to introduce new products and not to consider changing prices. Price and new products should be considered once the main problem is resolved; the V5 system, the core of VEX Robotics competition products, needs to be fixed first.

And I bought stuff from Robot Mesh, I expect the package today. I think what @Rieger.samuel26 are talking about is the new rules that resellers (like Robot Mesh and STEMRobotics) can not sell in another area covered by a reseller.

There was recently a price increase across the line. It had to do with VEX not increasing prices in a number of years, increased manufacturing costs, tariffs on goods from China, etc.

Shipping from VEX is pretty simple, there is a min shipping cost and then it’s by weight and size of the box. Like everyone else in the world does. Amazon’s ā€œfree shippingā€ is anything but. I pay my Prime fee to get ā€œfree shippingā€ and the profit margin on everything they ship is paying for shipping.

There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. (TINSTAAFL). You are paying for things

As far as the cost goes, you need to match apples to apples. How much does a competition robotcs motor with a rotational sensor cost? The field tiles are pretty close to what you can get in other places.

If you don’t like the sizing square make your own. You can do it out of wood for local use.

On the nose.

It’d be swell if they full-filled their online orders through amazon.

Amazon will just steal the products and make their own copies. It’s what they do.

At our last tournament, our coach gave every one of our teams a wire with 2 exposed ends, and said to screw one end on to the bots frame, and put a nut or standoff on the other end. The reason why? The top seeded team ended up having a discharge on their bot that fried their cortex. Our coach now buys anti-static spray for our fields, out of his pocket, so that we don’t have to add more to our pile of 3 cortex’s and about 15 motors. I hope vex understands that at this point, we our asking ourselves if the parts will purposely stop functioning so that we have to spend even more money on things that we have already bought.

Okay, I can see fried ports, dead screens, and even some bad motors coming from static, but my personal experience with white screens has always been only when I had a bad battery or dead battery. We only recently used anti static spray on our field and have never had an issue with white screens. There might be other causes for this, but static has never given me an issue with white screens. My experience has always pointed to battery issues, and once I started making sure my batteries were well taken care of I never had issues with it again.

Agreed, if the product didn’t have inconsistencies it would be worth the price, that isn’t the issue just the fact that it’s not working as advertised is. Now if they lowered the prices would they have the money to make the design fixes that are necessary.

(I’ve bolded some text for emphasis)

This… is quite the statement.

Being critical of a product that doesn’t meet your expectations as a consumer is fair and understandable. However insulting the abilities and intelligence of the design team is something you may want to reconsider. Just remember there are real people behind all these screens.

Back to situation described - robot gets rammed - white screen … my hypothesis is that it is a micro loss of power event, not ESD. To mitigate this situation (shock of impact), we use foam as a shock absorber. Result from last season is white screens went away but for the most extreme impact.

Remember. V5 is still new. So its gonna get better (hopefully) They added anti static tiles which will help.

You guys do know that if u want consistency u can just keep on using cortex, right?

exactly.

But V5 has more power right?
