My Middle school will be participating in highstakes, any tips on how I can build my highstakes robot?

I need some tips on how I can build the high stakes robot. I am working on a team of 4 and Hughes Middle School needs to win. PLEASE HELP

If it’s your first year in robotics, you can start by building this year’s hero bot (the robot vex releases each year designed for the game) jut to get you started and more experienced. If you’re more experienced, I would recommend looking at reveal videos of teams on YouTube for inspirations. Definitely focus on the mobile goals first though. And you should also build your Mogo mech (mobile goal mechanism) before the intake/ring mech. Hope this helps and good luck with your season!

Welcome to the forum! Firstly, wrong categories. Make sure you make your posts in the proper categories. Secondly, your team seems to be starting pretty late in the season, which is not great, but we can work with that.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go to Youtube
  2. search up V5RC High Stakes
  3. watch all the videos you can find about robots, mobile goal clamps, scoring mechanisms, etc.
  4. go form there. The research might possibly give your team some very good ideas and help you construct a competitive robot.

These should help your team out. If you have nothing at all, focus on a good drivetrain first. two of my school’s teams only had a pushbot at one or two of the comps, and they did surprisingly well. After that, try to get a mobile goal clamp, then, a way to score on the mobile goals, and then go from there. That’s what my team did this year, and it’s worked out pretty well so far.

Hope this helps!
