New Scoring Mechanism?

In This video, team 44600A has a rubber band roller at the back of the robot to score in the low goal. This is an idea that my team has been considering for a while, and we only now have seen it built. Is there a name for this, or do we need to create a name for it?

(sorry for the bad picture quality. The livestream didn’t load very well for me)

I’m not sure we need a name for it besides maybe,
“The rubber band roller at the back of the robot to score in the bottom goal” or TRBRATBOTRTSITBG for short

It’s an interesting scoring mechanism, but personally I don’t think it’s better than just using the catapult.

It’s being called a “back roller”

I disagree. Having a low-torque scoring mechanism that can easily be connected to the intaks is usefull. Combined with a catapult for the high goal using a PTO or pneumatics, you should be able to have a 4 motor intake! (or 3 motor intake with an H-drive…). I can’t wait for teams to experiment with ideas like this!

This is a design created by the current leader in world skills… Its rather simple. Just a back roller with a catapult as a ramp into the roller. Another example can be seen here.

This version is more complicated than the american adaptation, using a four motor drivetrain.
This design is called a back roller robot.
