Have you guys seen anything other than tray bots or tower bots? At the last competition my team went to, at least 80% of the bots were tray bots.

No. Remember current limiting? It is near impossible to use more than 10/12 motors on a bot. Max with no limiting is 8.

Jpearman said he is working on that. I get limiting, but still. That is a lot more motors than we get to use.

Not disputing what you’re saying but I count at least 13 motors on that VexU bot: 4 drive, 4 scissor lift, 1 claw, 2 claw bar, 2 intake. And I think there might be more than that.

You can put more than that many on, they just dont have the same power(around 50%) because they limit

I know it can be done. The motors just don’t have much power.

I have seen a team who created dr4b, but added a tray bot intake/outtake on the top. So it can lift up and then stack 8 cubes in a tower at once.

I’ve definitely seen some nice wallbot concepts, just none that are implemented well enough. PS: Those 448X folks definitely had some serious foresight when they released the tray bot.

Isn’t 10 motors the maximum number the brain can supply at their maximum power output(11w output power while drawing 2A) but more motors would allow each of motors to run at their peak efficiency speed instead of peak power so while each motor has a lower maximum power output, they can be doubled u…
