Hi everyone! This is our first year participating in VEX IQ, and I have what might be a silly question about the Engineering Notebook. 
Do most teams use a digital notebook or a physical one? Just curious what others are doing. Thanks!
A lot of events do digital notebooks, so it will be better to do digital. However, most teams have both. You can also print a notebook that you make digitally.
Usually teams submit a digital notebook to the comps, and what happens for us is that we send it to our teachers for them to send to the hosts of the participating comp

I feel like it’s best to use digital, because you have access to templates and real-time collaboration, as well as the capabilities to edit images. However, some competitions will only accept physical notebooks, so make sure that you’re able to print out your notebook. If you can’t, I would recommend doing a physical notebook.

Digital is good. I highly recommend Google Slides.
I have judged both styles and had winners with both. The thing to look at while deciding is the summaries will be highly useful. I would check how that works so you can make the best choice for your team. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Good luck and enjoy. If your team has an EP for your area, you may ask them. Scanned copies of handwritten notebooks work as accpeted for digital submissions.
My team uses a digital notebook and physical notebooks are required to be printed out for designing a digital notebook. I really like to use Canva. It is a good beginner software and can do a lot.
Hey, welcome to vex!!! What I do is weird. I do the notebooks one Google slides, like other people said, and then when time comes for a competition I print it out, so I have a digital copy and a physical copy. I hope that helped you, and please enjoy VEX as much as I do.

This is coming from a team notebooker, co captain, lead builder, and three year VEX veteran.
From what I’ve seen, most people do digital notebooks. They are easier to access and customize. However, it may be better to do both just in case you lose the other.
If you want to do the digital notebook, great choice! That is what my team has done, from what I know. Our team has been around for six years, and I’ve only been on the team for three. Since this is your first time, I suggest downloading the notebook help slides along with it, and if you want, the digital VEXIQ parts. The notebook help slides are great starters and the digital VEXIQ parts are used to copy and paste in your digital notebook for references.
Some people prefer the physical notebook, and that is ok. While that is not my first option, it helps because you can’t move around the lines, grid, etc.. I think you should have your most legible handwriter as your team notebooker for that.

I’m the notebooker for my team. I write in a physical notebook for the engineering notebook(not my decision, that was my coach’s). I just scan the notebook and then paste the image into Google Slides.
Hi! Typically teams use digital, I like to use Google docs for it, because there is a template that is easy to use. However, we also have a physical notebook that we bring to the field that has the scoring rubric, and notes on what we can do better next competition!!

For the past 3 years, I´ve been doing digital slides, printing them out all pretty and colorful, then putting them in a binder, adding tabs (like the ones that stick out) to label different sections, and the judges LOVEEEE that!!
