I don’t hate it, solely because all stacking games are good. I wish the GDC would increase possession limits, because that’s one of the worst aspects of the game in my and most others’ opinions.

I just feel that starting the season by saying there’s a limit on a SubSystem wasn’t the best way to start it but I feel that people will eventually figure out that its not that bad. I just think that everyone is used to building the same drivetrain instead of trying something new for the season.

They probably didn’t want Tower Takeover tray stacker robots back

Im just disappointed No launching game this year, they even said at worlds “sorry no launching game”.

I love it. Everybody in the community wanted Over Under 2.0 with the simplest possible robots and exclusive driver focus, but an engineering focused game seems like a miracle to me.

Increasing the limit would add a new challenge, though, all the scoring points are raised off the group at different heights, so it would vary compared to Tower Takeover or In The Zone because teams would need to innovate to be able to lift a tall tower in the air while balancing. Tower Takeover had cube-shaped components that you could just intake to make a large tower. Override, on the other hand, has much more abnormally shaped objects that are difficult to pick up and orient correctly, requiring some sort of arm or unique lift instead of basic rollers to stack.

Really fun building challenge, but probably not gonna be fun to watch or drive until late game with a bunch of amazing teams. Build and program teams are gonna love it, but new teams are gonna struggle for sure.

Everyone wanted spin up 2.0 (not over under) because it was fun to build/play, was mostly robot focused, and DIDN’T HAVE LARGE POINT SWINGS. Point swings are the single worst part of a game because they cause good teams to lose when they shouldn’t and just make the game more stressful because the first half barely matters. When there are alliance goals and objects that don’t change who they are scored for, these points swings are removed, making the winner the best performing team, not the team who gets the last second descore or the last second negative corner, or the last second toggle change.

Fr I wasn’t in spin up and I wish I was because it looks so fun. Also override is kinda mix and match but v5, and super complex

I really wish they would release a new shooting game kinda like nothing but net but with a descore and maybe 2 more neutral goals

Override is actually not that complicated. It’s really just that the game video did a pretty bad job making it simple. Something like “colored pins are worth 5 points for your alliance, yellow pins are worth 10 if the toggle is set to the right color, pins only score when you can see them, getting in the midfield is 8 points and whoever has the most robots in the midfield gets all its yellow pins” is probably a lot easier for someone’s relative to digest.

it’s a good way to encourage others to find new avenues of bot design that aren’t just 66w tank, but then again, I feel like a good amount of teams would have migrated to 44 or 55w anyway

O/U was my first V5 game, and was my favorite. I loved the chaos of it. With that being said, I’m also very excited for an engineering focused game.

even though they said they wanted a departure from defense-based driving, override’s point swings are only encouraging that style of play…
