In a qualification match, there were pins stuck in the holes on top of the outside wall of the field. The robot’s intake got stuck on the pins while they were carrying the ball. The pins on the field wall would seem like a violation of <T7>, but when we talked to the head ref, they said that the team should have taken their robot off the field, reloaded the ball, and continued. There were 7 seconds left in the match when the robot got stuck. It would have taken 2 seconds for them to score if they had not gotten stuck, but it would not be possible to reset the robot in the 7 seconds remaining. I understand that the referee’s word is final, but I am wondering if the pins stuck outside the field would be a violation of <T7>, because they were match affecting.
