Pneumatics for claw

Hi,
My team is thinking of using pneumatics to power two claws. We are complete beginners, and we have watched a couple videos but still don’t understand. Can you please send any related videos you found useful or explain it in words in a reply pls :slight_smile:

I advise going on the VEX IQ library and try to find some rescources n how to use pneumatics properly and efficiently.

if you want to make a proper pneumatic claw, it is best that you use 2 pneumatic pistons (short in my opinion), and place them in the shape of the image below

But for new people, I would do this

In conclusion, the bottom screenshot is more stress free for beginners

(P.S. if you could provide a purpose of the claw, it would be great)

If you build the claw for the huey and don’t put the motor on it, you can probably find a place to put the pneumatics, either the long or short piston. then figure out how to build a better claw from there.

Picking up pins
(We will sort out the one for beam later as it’s more complex)

if u were to pick up pins, I would pick the one with only one pneumatic because unlike picking up beams, you wont really need to much power. But if you were to pick up beams, it would be a whole other thing

You can check out the Capped pins videos about using pneumatics or you can even just skip it entirely and just use motors (but a little more advanced)

Neither can I :slight_smile: how could u use pneumatics to perform practically the same function as a motor : e.g. turn a gear?

Hard to explain, but make sure:
When you put the tubing for the claws the tubing goes like:
A of cylinder 1 to A of cylinder 2 (add a t-fitting to merge to tubing and then connect the tube to the tank) B of c1 to B of c2. :sunny:

We accidently connected A to B and B to A being absolute beginners in pneumatics SO DON’T DO THAT
