Push Back Robot Prediction

I already tried to vertical intake on my high stakes robot and it works fine if not better than a side intake

I think that horizontal intakes are better, because you don’t need to add the pneumatics for a tongue mech. I know that some designs don’t work as well with side rollers, but I designed a lifting tray style robot that’s only 9.5 pounds that used horizontal rollers. If it had a pneumatic tongue mech and a vertical intake, it would be over 11 pounds due to the weight of reservoirs and extra c-channels for the tongue mech. As much weight saving as possible is necessary for running >480 drivetrains. These are just my thoughts, though.

This is a well-constructed robot. I do have a few questions and suggestions about the overall design, if you don’t mind.

The side rollers. I understand your want for weight savings, and I am assuming by

, you mean drivetrains with top speeds of 70 to 85 inches per second, and how you want to keep things simple when it comes to pneumatics. However, I feel a scooper mech, tongue mech (whatever it’s called :face_with_raised_eyebrow:), would be much faster when clearing the balls out of a loader. Additionally, a vertical roller would use less power and offer more area to pick up the octoballs, as it would only require one 5.5-watt motor and would have a wider area to pick them up. If you decide to keep the horizontal rollers, I recommend that you at least add wedges to the sides. I hope this helped and/or added to the conversation.

I think that the horizontal intake are better thanks for mentioning that. This helps me because originally I did the rubber band and conveyer belt gears but now that I saw this I’m gonna change my intake. Huge thanks to you and good luck for push back.

Why don’t you use pneumatics for lifting the lift instead of motors? It could’ve a good use.

It needs to have 3 positions (intake, middle goal outtake, and long goal outtake), and pneumatics can only have 2. Additionally, the reservoir is nearly a pound and takes up a lot of space, and this was designed to be as light and compact as possible. There also wasn’t any space for the reservoir on the robot if I wanted one.
