I know in the past (around Summer 2020) it was indicated that Python would be added to Vexcode Pro V5 eventually.
For many of my students Python is one of their first and best languages they use and it’s the best way to get them involved programming.
For consistency’s sake I want to keep my teams using one program. Is Python support still on the roadmap?
I believe this is the relevant post:
Is there a way to campaign for this?
Python in VEXcode Pro V5 (the new name) will happen. It’s just not a “short term” (3-4 months) window due to other priorities outlined previously:
V5 Python Preview: Mid June
IQ C++ Preview: Late June
V5 Python & C++ Preview: Early July
Polish, Bug Fixes, New Sensor Support, Tutorials, etc: July-August
123 / GO Blocks development: Sometime in that same window above…
So the earliest we can take on “new” developments would be in September. It’s a priorit…
Yep that’s the post I’m referencing. They said it was on the long term roadmap in June 2020.
It has been a while now and I wonder if it’s still low priority on the roadmap or if it’s in development
We’ve still working on the direction for Python support with V5 to provide a “Pro” experience, however the accelerated timeline for IQ 2nd Generation and EXP has pushed it a bit back on the priority list.
So much to do… so little time…
and your team always continues to impress with the quality of offerings across the board.
