Our coach has a question about awards because on events.vex.com, none of the awards at a competition we are going to shows that it qualifies for state. Can someone find out if any of the awards qualify because the competition is on a Friday, and we want to know if it is worth it to go?
Here’s the link: Level up & Lock In (Middle School IQ) : VEX Events
I would argue the experience is what makes the competition worthwhile, not any the potential to “qualify for Regionals”…
True, but our coach doesn’t want us to miss school for a competition if we don’t have a chance to head to state(even though experience is useful).
Honestly going to a comp is worth it, because you can test your robot against other robots(scrimmage).
But I don’t think the awards from this specific event will qualify you for states, because there is no judging which already says that this event is gonna be really basic.
If you’re already registered then you should go, but if not then you can’t because the registration is already closed
I am an event partner. I am not sure about what is typical in other regions, but in my region early season events never have the qualifications listed. They are added later in the season after they (VEX) know how many total competitions there are and how many spots will be available at the regional championships. I think it is likely that the tournament champions will qualify from this event, and possibly skills champion as well, depending on how many teams are in the event. If this is indeed the case, the teams who win those awards will be notified when the qualifications are assigned for the event that they have qualified for the regional championship.
