R-25 Clarification

Each individual piece of non-shattering plastic cannot be larger than 4” x 8” x 0.070”. This is a snippet from R-25, permitting each of the 12 alotted plastic pieces to a size of 4 inches by 8 inches. Seeing as it doesnt specify a shape this 4" by 8" limit is, could we tecnically have a piece that has a surface area less than 32 sqaure inches? which is the surface area of a 4" by 8" rectangle. Thanks :smirk_cat:

It is well understood (common sense) 4"x8" refers to length and width of a rectangle.

If GDC had wanted pieces to be up to 32 square inches, they would have stated as much.

If you feel this is still unclear, then post on the Official Q&A - the post will need from the adult registering the team, EP, or Head Referee.

You’re in the wrong place. Q&A: VEX IQ Robotics Competition 2024-2025: Rapid Relay : Robot Events

Huh? The question was about V5 Push Back R25.

I think they want it to be able to fit in the 4x8 rectangle because that makes it easier to verify the plastic pieces are in size. If it is instead a 2x16 for an example and another was 32x1 for example, it would sometimes become “difficult” to regulate. And the recf response to the opposition r25 included that the previous rules made it too difficult to regulate.
