R20 Updates - Thank You to the GDC

Rubber bands no larger than 7.5” long and 0.25” wide.

Plastic zip ties no larger than 12” long and 0.25” wide.

Anti-slip drawer liner with similar nominal dimensions to VEX Anti-Slip Mat (275-0120 or 275-0121). The pattern of the matting should be similar to VEX Anti-Slip Mat, and there should be no additional performance gained by using non-VEX anti-slip drawer liner (i.e., no additional elasticity, adhesive backing, etc.). No piece of anti-slip drawer liner can be larger than 12” x 15” and all pieces must be black in color

I just wanted to say thank you @VEX_GDC for these new updates, with legalizing commercial anti-slip mats and clarifying commercial rubber band/zip tie lengths, which would not only make it easier on inspectors but also on teams when finding legal commercial substitutes for these.

IDK how to frame these rules (clearly there may be some zip ties commercially available that give function above “standard ones” and clearly there are “rubber bands” that are significantly more powerful that the ones currently allowed, but I have faith in you!)

This has actually been one of the items I’ve been looking at, and you’re definitely right that there is a surprising amount of nuance surrounding these!

This is beautiful. Finally having rules for zipties and mesh is awesome, and I’m glad that it’ll ease the load on inspectors. I do wish we could have colors other than black though, for those robots that use lighter colors. Still, this is nice.
