To clarify, are we allowed to use non-VEX parts such as wood, plastic, or metal and non VEX hardware for structural support on our recycling project to make it safer? Thanks in advance for your help!
Great question. We suggest rethinking your design idea or decreasing the size if safety is a concern.
To clarify:
“The use of non-VEX components is allowed for decorations and embellishments” - these are not structural components.
“…or for parts not provided by VEX” - this refers to a part or parts that may work in conjunction with VEX parts in the design. The primary structure must be comprised of VEX components, so if additional structural support is needed beyond just a few additional “outsider” parts, then please modify your design to fit the requirements.
