Refereeing for Rapid Relay

Was reffing easy, hard, fun or boring for rapid relay? Give me some thoughts on how was it reffing?

I obviously did not ref, but my personal opinion is that it was hard.
We lost points at State, as the ref didn’t count properly. Unfortunately, I’m certain we weren’t the only team that experienced this.

It’s not hard but it does require that everyone pay attention. We encourage teams, the head ref, and the scorekeepers to verbally confirm points.

“Pass, score, gate” where everyone hears what’s being recorded. If a team passes but doesn’t hear “Pass” then they should speak up. It’s difficult to claim something was missed 30 seconds ago.

It’s a good exercise regardless since teams cannot wait for the end to count up the score like in past seasons.

I think you are talking about what “reffing” is; it means to keep score of the game or sort of keep order in the game. you can find what they do here-

We used the term SWITCH. They were also good at saying “That ball has already been passed” And also saying “that was not a pass”.

Lots of issues across the season with switches that opened enough to let a ball score, but not to stay open. So 2/3 of the game is counted in real time, 1/3 at the end.

I for one look forward to the return of our beloved “scores will be counted when all game objects come to rest” Overlords. All hail the Triball. :upside_down_face:
