Remembering the best

Fusion 360, I have a custom built PC but the specs are: i7 4790k, 16gb ram, 1080TI.

169A Turning Point CAD files and renders are uploaded on the google drive.

I am actually trying to do that, but I just need to fix some things before I can print it.
Edit: Hopefully my teacher allows me to use my schools 3d printers.

Be sure to let us know how that works out. I might get to do the same if it actually works out clearly.

This is really incredible Zach! Thank you for making this wonderful idea and bringing it to reality – I’m looking forward to studying these CADs now and in the future and I’m sure it will help many new teams as well. I also have a few more suggestions, if you don’t already have enough as it is (sorry if some of these were already mentioned):

– 2915A from Sack Attack (the 400 point skills run bot)
– 315G and 8059A from TP
– 5225A and 8825S from ITZ
– AURA and QCC2 from Skyrise and AURA from Starstruck
– And of course 929U’s ITZ and TP robots!

There were some other killer robots mentioned above that I don’t wanna repeat as well. Anyway, thanks again Zach for all of your efforts and contributions to the community!

I love this project, this is an awesome way to preserve and share these outstanding bots. I downloaded the 169A CAD and I learned so much just exploring it for 10 minutes. one though, inventor thinks that polycarb is steel, so I had to change all the material properties of the polycarb pieces for it to look right, but idk if that’s just and issue with inventor.

Thanks, glad it’s helpful. Must just be an inventor problem because that doesn’t happen in solidworks or fusion 360

also, how do you get renders looking that awesome? I have a decently fast computer, but I can never get my renders to look that amazing.

If you want really good renders I was suggested to use Visualize or Blender. However these renders were just done in fusion 360, changing up the environment and lighting settings can go a long way.

what sort of environment and lighting do you use?

We should probably move this to messages if you want to ask more questions, it usually changes between render though. I just play around until I like how it looks and do some test renders with low res then do the higher res ones.

This will definitely be a valuable resource teach future teams how mechanisms work. I’ve always wanted to learn how a flywheel hood indexer works and I believe these CADs will help a lot. Thank You.

@Zach_929U, what program did you use to make these? They are amazing.

He uses Fusion 360.

I think you’d basically need a dual extrude printer for this with dissolvable support filament, but other than that you should be able to. Standard supports I doubt would work since the parts are so intricate.
Sadly I don’t have access to one, otherwise I’d definitely try.

Oh my goodness, I’m impressed. I’ve been trying to make good chain assemblies in fusion for a long time…

I’d want that. Just to see how it’d work. But I’m not sure if you could easily assemble it at that small of scale.

I was envisioning like an 8” x 8” x 8” recreation of a robot, or smaller if it’d work out and not just melt into one giant block. But I suppose you could assemble one at a slightly larger scale, but that does seem to waste a lot of filliament.

keep in mid you could just print it as a single solid block if your printer is large enough. The robot doesnt actually have to work

I am sorry to say this - but would some of you moved your chat to another thread?
You guys have just hijacked Zach’s thread…
