We are missing the quad 2x wide, 2x2 connector peices that are needed to build the Swish robot. Does anyone know if there is a way to use different parts in place of them? Thanks in advanced!
I’m assuming you are talking about the ones used in Step 9 and Step 18.
You need 4 triple 2x wide, 2x2 connector pieces and 4 2x standoffs that have the 2 slots in the middle.
Hi Kaymlaw,
This is really supposed to be an engineering contest, the idea is that you would be able to figure a workaround. But this is pretty common question since there are thousands and thousands of version 1 VIQ owners out there. So I’m going to tell you how I would build it.
Put the four 2x standoffs in one of the 2x2 connectors, you are inserting from the notch side, one standoff into each of the four corners. Now position the other triple so that it’s center set of outward facing pins is 180 degrees from the one below it. You want the lower connector to snap into the inside upright, the front and the back cross members. The upper connecter will snap into the outside upright and the front and back cross members.
Now since this is to be a teaching moment, can you tell me why you put the four 2x standoffs inside the two connectors? What do they do?
Good luck on your build! (Hey, one of you that has a CAD program at your ready, can you build the part described above and post it? I’m on the road, and can’t CAD on my phone) Thanks!)
