Robot Concept - Team 81K

Sticking with the animal theme, this got to be called a SPIDER BOT because

  • It looks like a spider
  • It spins thread like a spider
  • It captures prey goal like a spider

Honestly this style design can have a cycle speed as fast as a snail bot with a good driver, it’s iffy, but I think this can be a very competitive design.

preach brother

  1. Place a ball above the field
  2. Array it in 3 dimensions. A 15x15x15 cube should work
  3. Select all of them
  4. Hold the alt key, and click rigid body
  5. Set how long you want the animation to take, and at what times
  6. Hit Bake
  7. Hit Render
  8. Profit

Well then you’re forcing them to break a rule which isn’t allowed.

Wallbots lose protection tho.
So I think the wall would be ruled illegal by most refs since it technically stays in place by resting on the goal zone. Think about it this way: if the goal zone were not there, would the wall still be immobile? My guess would be no

It’s definitely something interesting to keep in mind for Q and A.

I love this. The backwards 4 bar is a genius solution to having to back up to lift, which will get the cycle time of tray lifts almost as high as hoodbots.
And that wall is also genius, though personally I don’t like having something rely on a fuzzy rule that different refs will interpret differently.

It didn’t rest on it though, it stayed a bit apart from it.

On a related note but not really, G16 states that mechanisms that react with multiple sides of a field element to latch onto it are prohibited. Circles technically have 0 sides and infinite points. Just sayin

We will defiantly ask in the Q & A. Then, either it is certainly legal or they modified the rules to make it illegal, no fuzziness.

Once a robot pushes on it, the wall will be resting on the goal zone

That’s true, I guess we just have to wait for the QnQ then.

I like your idea of the cage.

But I still think maybe you should get an official clearance on the legality,

In the past Seasons, there were so many times that gdc made adjustments to the rules after we figured out some ways to block the scoring zones, etc… and hence making our approach illegal.

consider this, but chain bar instead of four bar

no real reason why, i just like chain bars

When you’re about to win worlds

But chain bar says *snapp

Chain bars can’t handle high loads well (not in vex at least). It’s also a more complicated solution to the problem because of the motion of a chain bar. The motion on a four-bar is much more desirable for the task as it covers less distance to reach the same point.

The cage is truly an OP strategy for this game, seeing that scoring 1 diagonal and winning autonomous can grant you a guaranteed win.

If you win auton, score 3 balls in the center and cage it, and defend the other 2 goals (seeing that u have 2 bots for 2 goals, it should be easy), you will guarantee a win.

I can see some worlds level autonomous consisting a hood which go for the WP and a bot like this that score 3 balls and pre-cage center, releasing it immediately after auton

Still don’t think this is a guarantee-win strategy.

A 4 bar and chain bar of equivalent lengths will take the same arcs to reach the same points

Win auton, 3 balls in center and 1 ball on each of the other corner, owning the goal. The opponent will still score less even if they have scored all of their balls

you misunderstood my point.
What i mean is that this caging method is not unstoppable. It will only work if the opponents allow you to own the centre goal.
so a lot depends on the fight for the centre goal.

You are assuming that the team WILL own the centre goal. But it is not a given… especially if the opponents know that it will be caged, you can be assured that there will be (robots’) bloodshed over it.
