We recently went to a tournament called “War4Worlds”, and for one of the qualifying rounds, our alliance was attempting to hang in the last 30 seconds of the match, which is given to them. However, an opponent bot was hitting them (vigorously), which is a clear violation of .
For some reason, the judge for that match claimed that it was not broken and did not give any further ruling upon it. Is this true?
The rules the head referee should be using are found in the game manual VRC Over Under Game Manual - VEX Robotics specifically, SG11 for elevation. You may wish to have your mentor/coach discuss the allegation you have against the head referee with the EP for the event, since it is too late for you as a student to address the head referee yourself. The head referee should have been certified, and your allegation is pretty egregious.
There was a recent update where robots hanging are protected only for the last 15 seconds, but it might have been after the tournament.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll be sure to talk to the EP about this.
That is only true for the short barrier. The elevation bar itself is still protected for thirty seconds.
and if the robot is touching the elevation bar in the last 30 seconds then the robot is considered an extension of the elevation bar
