Scoring for Toggles

I’m having a bit of trouble understanding rules with toggles. Following SC4, it describes this rule:

  1. The Toggle must be fully seated, such that there is a face of the Toggle in contact and parallel with its mounts on the Field Perimeter at rest. (see Figure SC5-1)

Following this rule, would toggles stacked like this (below), be scored as RED or NEUTRAL?

I can’t see the picture very well, but from what I could tell, where the toggle is not fully seated, as in it is not in one of the three seated positions, it would count as neutral.

From what I can see since this is a low-res image, the following may have occurred:

  • The Toggle is not properly seated in such a way a clear color is shown to the Scorekeeper/Head Refs
  • The Robot is in contact with the Toggle, which means it would not count as a changed color

If you’re absolutely without a shadow of a doubt sure that the Toggle is set, and the Robot is not touching the Toggle, then the Toggle may be defunct and you could ask for a replay.

If the bot is touching it, it does not count. From the photo it looks like the bot is touching it. So it would be neutral toggle. If not, it is up to the judge to decide the toggles color.

That is not true. The toggles need to be fully seated on one of its sides.

Quoting from the game manual

A Toggle is considered set to a color when it meets all of the following criteria:

a. The Toggle must be fully seated, such that there is a face of the Toggle in contact and parallel with its mounts on the Field Perimeter at rest. (see Figure SC5-1)

b. The Toggle is not in contact with a Robot from either Alliance.

If a Toggle is not considered set to a color, it is considered a neutral (yellow) Toggle by default, and neither Alliance receives Ownership of the yellow Pins Placed in that Quadrant. While the Toggle has infinite potential orientations, only three discrete orientations are considered “set” states
