Hi, my team is just wondering if the scuff paddles are legal for vrc. I know there have been q and a’s in the past.
Assuming you have reviewed the past Q&A answers and read the response from the GDC on those previous rulings, then please cite what section or rule in the current game manual leads you to believe they might not be legal this season. If they were ruled legal in past seasons in the Q&A, and the particular rules in the game manual have not changed since last season, why do you think they might rule differently this season?
So they are legal? I would think so.
Did you read the game manual? As you read the game manual, keep in mind that the manual tells you rules that you must follow, and rules of things that are prohibited. It would be impossible to tell everything that you might do. For example, can you build your bot from both aluminum and steel parts? Sure, the manual doesn’t say you can’t, nor does it say you must use either steel or aluminum but not both. So what does the manual say about paddles attached to the controller?
Please read the Q&A.
Nothing? I just wasn’t sure.
You have your answer. It’s not prohibited by the game manual, therefore it’s legal.
Assuming you read the past Q&A, you would see that the answers in the majority of the Q&A responses by the GDC are “read the manual” (RTM) answers. That is, the GDC’s comment in the Q&A is simply that you interpreted the rules as they were written. No new rules, corrections, or modifications to the game manual are needed.
a general rule of thumb is that whatever they don’t say is illegal is perfectly legal
can’t wait to spinup my 8m v5 full body horizontal
wonder what 20 kJ would do to a vex bot
