I am currently building my drivetrain and I was wondering whether I should use 6(4 omni 2 traction) or 4(all omni ) wheels for my drive train. When I asked people from my club they said to do whatever the driver prefers but we are a very young team so we don’t really have a preference.

honestly, the best straight drive is 4-2.75 Omnis on each side (geared for 6- motors) pictures are attached. but if you can’t do that, I would choose traction so as not to get pushed around. [20240603_132128]

You should maybe try a bling drive. It stops other bots from pushing your’s around so easily and it helps with rotation.

So assuming you have a PID as a self-correcting feature, then yes an odometry+pid combination should help migitate drift.
