@jpearman is there anything we can do about the mass amount of chit chat threads? This is getting ridiculous. Everyone on the forums to talk instead of solving problems, and it’s going to get worse, because as new users join they’ll think this is ok, and more spam will come out.
Not sure is jpearman is the correct person to tag about this.
Also there is more than one thread about this topic…
Short of banning all the middle schoolers… not sure we can this week.
yes, ironic how I’m making a duplicate thread about duplicate and chit chat threads. Idk who to talk to about it but idk I’ll be another person on the pile asking for some action.
happpy cake day
Well it’s not an emergency, I’m just saying that when the new season starts, you guys should do something. Because this has been a forum problem for a while now
Really the only solution besides what jpearman said is give the regulars the privileges they had previously to regulate the flow of chit chat threads.
When this becomes a problem is when the middle schoolers become regulars…
The forum goes through cycles, at the moment many students are excited for worlds, we have not had an in person worlds for three years, it’s understandable. After worlds it will all be about the new game for a couple of weeks, then everything will calm down again.
Not really a solution, it would just cause more chaos.
Alright, you’ve been on this forum longer than i have so.
it takes quite a bit to become a regular, but yeah
As was said, this is the first in person worlds in THREE YEARS!!! Everybody is exited, and a lot of people (mostly middle schoolers but not all) make Chit-Chat threads as a result. There is no sulution short of baning evreybody who makes a thread that is not just fixing a problem.
P.S. If you can’t beat them, join them. Take that as you will
It just takes frequent visits and frequent posts really. Spamming in threads and creating new ones will get you there after the 50/100 day span has passed. Anyone can get it just by remembering to check the forums often
We’ll there’s not a lot you can do if you still want to see some chit chat threads, but there is something you can do about most of the middle school threads…
+1. This is a normal occurance to have quite a surge of chit-chat threads pre and post-worlds. It is natural and honestly it doesn’t hurt anyone as the threads will disappear into the chit-chat abyss once it’s all done. Chit chat is only for chit chat and the category creates a natural filter between the clutter and the order, organizing things to a way that allows important threads to be searched just as easily while not hindering the search capabilities. It is very smart, but I do feel like it would be beneficial to maybe allow approved people to at least re-categorize threads to help with categorizing things more approperiately.
On another note, it would be a cool idea to occasionally purge (or hide from the search bar) chit-chat threads longer than a year that don’t reach 50 replies or something, just to further reduce clutter.
The forum goes in cycles. At the end and beginning of the season it becomes more chit chat, but in the middle its moreso focused, which is the majority of the time
Only the bad ones though…
I got it in under 60 days. Normal people can get it if they just use it regularly and give and receive likes without posting anything that can be flagged.
As someone who gained Regular status when the abilities were still enabled and then used them until they were disabled, granting Regulars their powers again would NOT solve the “so many chit chat threads” issue.
The only time that I think that I have seen where the forum would have benefitted or did benefit from all Regulars having their powers is during the active spamming life of @GalaxyGhost. If you check out some of their post history, Regulars did excellent work (IMO) retitling and recategorizing threads.
