4 motor mecanum drive
1 motor flywheel
2 motor aim thing (360 degree spin and vertical aiming)
1 motor intake
1 piston, motor shared with intake, roller spinner
odometry to auto aim combined with gps sensor to make it more accurate (very complicated, makes my job a lot harder)
color sensor to auto spin the roller
inertal sensor and gyro to auto aim to goal
2 piston endgame extension with a ton of rubber bands (going to be a pain to reset every match)

this is nice.

Why does everyone keep saying a holonomic drive? I feel like you want as much traction as physically possible. You would not want to be pushed while lining up for a shot, and I feel like they will get stuck on the pancakes. Is there a reason?

I was thinking about this with chain, until I saw R4A:

You can only hold up to 3 of them

Having a Dual Fly wheel bot similar to what people did in Nothing But Net might be a good place to start

I don’t know how you could maximize points for expanding your robot out (I can already see the amount of people doing this is either getting DQed or warned for it)

When you consider this keep in mind that for a Frisbee to fly well, it needs to spin to maintain gyroscopic stability. If you try to throw a Frisbee by just pushing it away from you, it won’t fly very far. You can look at FRC Ultimate Goal robots and FTC Ultimate Ascent robots for examples of single flywheel disc shooters. These generally use one flywheel so that the disc is spinning throughout its flight.

How big are the frisbee for the game this year is the 2nd question? Are they about donut size? Looking at FRC bots they’ve got more room to play with so they can. From the few that I looked up they probably have about 30 inches of wiggle room compared to 18 in Vex.

Edit: (Thank you Derek) So the frisbees are about 5.5 inches wide, that would be a little less than a 3rd of your bot. If you could center (ish) it, definitely doable. But I’d need to see a little more. What would you think on how to do it?

I would think that a puncher would be probably pretty easy to make if I were to say another option, for the start of the season it might be pretty viable at the very least. And someone mentioned using pistons for endgame, setting up a couple walls that expand upon button hit would probably set you up for a quick 15-21 points I’d say.

Do you guys think power is going to play a factor in this game? I am currently considering either a 6 motor faster omni drive with a pto or a fast mechanum wheel drive using 4 motors. The only way you could really use pushing effectively is when the opposing alliance is shooting. (i dont want to make a 6 motor mechanum drive)

Not really. There isn’t really a huge scarcity of game objects (more than last year, but fewer than other years), and so there is nothing that really needs fighting over. Of course, it could be easy to bump other teams while they are shooting to knock their shots off course, but that could easily be solved by a pneumatic brake to stop from being moved at all. However, since only 3 discs can be held at a time, speed will definitely be an advantage, so you can grab 3, shoot fast, then head back for more. So a 6 motor drive could be an advantage if you want to go really stupid fast. But, overall, I think a 4 motor drive could definitely be effective.

Well you can only hold 3 at a time so flywheels would allow for much more points

I don’t know how you could ā€œplaceā€ them in from 7" below the rim of the goal, though.

I bet it would be pretty easy to just throw them up and then refill from your opponent’s low goal

You could go simple or advanced (or a combination of both).
Simple:

pneumatic transmission for running intake

Yes, there are no penalties for trapping in endgame so power could be used to trap someone to prevent them from scoring endgame points.
