My team is building the continuous lift for this season, but we don’t have any experience with using string to rig the stages of the lift. Can anyone share some building tips on rigging & tying strings on the winch. Also, I’d love to know some unstretching strings that are localy accessible.
There are two options for stringing an elevator lift, the diagram above should show you how to rig each one. The main difference between the two is that each cascade stage goes up the same amount at once, while the continuous lift raises one stage at a time. My team is currently using a continuous because the string tensioning with cascade was too difficult.
You could also have the string spool around the motor-driven winch instead of looping around the entire assembly, but then you will have to tie it down to the top stage
