Stupidest thing you've done in VEX

Someone on my team melted through a pair of safety glasses with the sparks from a Dremel.

We filed down a driveshaft then smacked to files together causing sparks. Big brain time

i wore a pickle rick costume to a competition for no reason

We were named The Titans. We wore a safari hat and a grey shirt and jeans.

Some of my teammates were wrestling at night during an oversea competition

My first attempt at a build was a DR4B… Needless to say, it wasn’t pretty xD

We tried to build an all steel DR4B our first year in vex. The stripping gears sounded like a fork in the garbage disposal.

with a cat in it too

I’ve done a full steel DR4B. Except I made it work. It was ludicrously slow for a DR4B, but I made it work. While it was admittedly awful, I’m still glad I did it so that I had experience when I went to build other DR4Bs later on.

Ours (@squiddy_slapper) did work… but it sounded like sticking 8000 paperclips in a blender. A week ago I managed to get a nut on the screw backwards, and we also bought a bunch of field tiles that ended up 6 inches short of 12’x12’, which resulted in us spending a bunch of time fixing it and cutting tiles. Its great.

No bearings, and a 12t plastic instead of metal… on our puncher…

Building a dr4b which used 35 hole long arms. I bent all the axles in it, which made me mega sad as I had to trash all 8 axles :frowning:

Left the robot alone for 5 mins while i went to look for some piece.
“So we made some changes”
“WHERE’S THE ROBOT?!?”

Pretty much our entire robot in Starstruck, although to be fair, it was our first year.
-No aluminum was used
-We made a 6-bar lift that needed six motors to lift, due to the weight of that much steel.
-We had no bearings on the claw, and with that thing’s build quality, I’m surprised it stayed together.

And then there’s last year, where we powered a puncher with one Cortex motor. It sorta worked.

The stupidest thing our team ever did was we got stuck in a pushing match in turning point and we burned out 2 ports on our brain

In TP, I had virtually no chance to win a qual match, so I singled out the top bot on the field, and got into a time-wasting match toggling one low flag back and forth, effectively wasting their time.
I forget exactly how that match turned out, but I think I lost. Dumb decisions.

I wasn’t aware that y-wiring to port 1 would be a problem - I’m guessing it draws too much power. Can you explain what goes wrong?

I made a dr4b with string instead of gears for ITZ. It was kinda terrible but kinda not terrible because it was fast but i had to readjust it all the time and it could only stack 10-11 cones. The worst thing though was the fact that i could build a normal dr4b in like 2-3 days but that one took 1.5 months and it was worse than a normal dr4b.

i had hyped up my autonomous before a match and when the match started i forgot to turn on my robot…

Stupidest thing I’ve done is leaving robotics two years ago. But I obviously came back
